I think the jaguar represents El Gato. And I think the deer represents El Gatos prey. Earlier in the book the keeper said “this is where you catch your prey.” When the jaguar caught the deer this is what first came to my mind. I also think this book is really good.

The deer and the jaguar both have an important meaning. El Gato is mentioned many times as being the jaguar. Due to the fact that the jaguar caught its prey, the deer, the Keeper remarks that he is to catch his prey in the goal. This symbolizes that the soccer ball is the prey to the goalie which in this case is gato

I think the jaguar represents Gato. I think that The Keeper brought the jaguar and the deer there to show El Gato how he is supposed to be able to work the ball, as the jaguar did the deer.

Hey, I agree with what Christopher said that the jaguar represents El Gato and the deer represents a player, maybe even the foward. But, I think that maybe the Keeper showed him that whole thing and had that happen in front of Gato so he could show him the move that he was trying to teach him aswell, and to make him believe that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it.

Chris- I agree with both of your thoughts: this book is very intriging and the connection between both the jag and Gato. For they must use their skills to achieve their "goals".

I think that the jaguar represents El Gato and the deer represents what he wants. I agree with Audrey. They both must use one another’s skills to reach their goals. I also think that the deer and the jaguar were both meant to be there to show Gato what the keeper meant to show him the move he wanted Gato to see. The deer and jaguar section was an interpretation of almost the same thing on the soccer field between two players-the goalie and the defender.
