The same future?

On page 119 El Gato’s father asks Estevan if he thinks Gato has a future. Estevan says, “This boy Gato? Oh yes. He has a future, I think, yes indeed. I think he will be very good one day, your son.” Do you think that the two men were referring to the same future?

No, I dont think that the two men were referring to the same future. I think that El Gato's father was referring to his future in wood chopping, not soccer. I think that his father was referring to Gato's wood chopping future because he was unaware of Gato's soccer skill.

No because I don’t think that Estevan new that he played soccer. Estevan thought that he was just a strong kid that didn’t have a real good future so his dad made him work here. After Estevan saw him play I believe that his thoughts changed.

I don’t think that the two men are referring to the same future. Based on previous events I think that Estevan believes he has a future playing soccer with many teams where Gatos dad wants him to go to college and receive an excellent education. On the other hand I think that his dad thinks he could do well playing soccer.

No I do not think that the two men (El Gato’s father and Estevan) were referring to the same futures. This is because, previously, Estevan had told El Gato that he was a great goalkeeper, which most likely means that he thinks El Gato will have a future in soccer. El Gato’s father was most likely referring to a future for El Gato at the camp or in machinery. So, in this way, I think that the two men were not referring to the same futures.

I think that the two men were talking about different futures. I think that El Gato’s dad was talking about a future in the tool shop and I think that Estavan was talking about soccer. At the beginning I think that both Estavan and El Gato’s father didn’t think that he had a very bright future. However after the game I think that Estavan had a different outlook on El Gato. Then when El Gatos father asked Estavan about his future and Estavan said that he indeed did then his father changed his outlook as well but it was on two different things.

I don’t think that the men are thinking of the same future. Gato’s father is talking about a future in logging because he thinks that logging is a worthwhile future. Estevan is talking about Gato’s soccer future because it is the thing that he truly excels at. It is kind of sad because Gato’s father really wants his son to work with him in logging, but he is starting to realize that logging isn’t the right future.
