The book

When I saw this book I thought it was going to be about a boy that practices soccer and how he achieves greatness. I thought that the book would be boring and have little to no adventure. I was very wrong. What did you think about the book when you first saw it? Did you 'judge the book by its cover" like I did?

Keeper

Do you think that Gato will ever see the Keeper again or will he just lige his life without the Keeper? I think maybe he will see the Keeper again someday.

Do you think he deserved it ???

Do you think that Gato deserved to win the world cup even though he cheated? I think that Gato did deserve to win the world cup because he really wanted to win and he failed once before and he didnt cheat really badly like he did something horrible he just pointed to a spot in his goal wichisnt that bad. What do you think about him cheating?

Henrys Prompt

why did you think the keeper was so hard on El Gato, why do you think he was never satisfied when El Gato did somthing rigt. He always did somthing wrong in the keepers point of view. Why do you think this?

The truth to the Keeper

Chris Noda

The Keeper has been a bumpy book. I was confused on some parts if it was a flashback or rather part of the interview. Then I was surprised why he left the interview so suddenly. I then re-read then I realized that the clues add up. The Keeper in the back row of the picture might be the Keeper. It may be the keeper that El Gato sees in the forest. Then also the older teams Keeper wanted to send the first World Cup to their home country. He could help El Gato with this. After he disappeared in a plane crash He thought that one day someone might be curios enough, and good enough to be the new Keeper. Do you think that the Keeper for the 1948 national team might be the keeper that thought El Gato so well? I mean they were the best team. Respond

Do you think that the 1948 to 1950 Puerto Rican national team tried to train any other players? Why was it Gato who was “chosen” to win it and give it to them? And why was it a keeper not a striker or a midfielder?

If you were El Gato, would you quit the game you loved to save the rainforest? I personally would do the exact same as El Gato, for he had reached the soccer peak, the world cup, and now had a different calling. His loyalty was not only to soccer, but to the place were he learned the game. Without the forest he wouldn’t have been able to involve as a player and a person, in the comfort on the sanctuary’s walls. Above all, he owes it to his real mentor, the keeper, to give him and his team a place to “live”.

keeper?

Did any of you think that Faustino actually wrote the book? The second I read the part where gato wants to name the book Keeper,I checked the front of the book to see who the author was and then remebered that this bookis Fiction

Name?

El Gato, the cat, is a peculiar name and represents something but what; the dance of death between the jaguar, cat, or the ghost deer leads me to believe that his name came from this, but over the time he probably forgot, so why is El Gato called el gato?

Annie Question!!

After El Gatos dads funeral Gato went into the clearing to try and find the Keeper and his soccer field, but neither were there. Where do you think the soccer field went? Why do you think that the Keeper wasn’t there? Do you think that there is any evidence that the Keeper is a spirit?

The same future?

On page 119 El Gato’s father asks Estevan if he thinks Gato has a future. Estevan says, “This boy Gato? Oh yes. He has a future, I think, yes indeed. I think he will be very good one day, your son.” Do you think that the two men were referring to the same future?

what if ...

If you have'nt read to far into the story all ready, Do you think that Gato will go back and train with the keeper since he has been skipping all those practices? Do you think that Gato will train with the Keepre in private? Do you even think the Keeper will forgive Gato for forgetting about him? I think that Gato will go back and train with the Keeper and the Keeper will forgive him but if he ever didi it again that would be it. And then Gato will have to balance work and practice.

Ellie Post

When do you feel like as if you would be the jaguar? When do you feel like you are the deer?
I would feel like I was the jaguar if i was the goal keeper and I would attack the ball as if it were prey. I feel like I am the deer when I am playing soccer and I am the forward going in for the shot and trying to dodge the goalie.

Un- prepared?

When "the thief" scores the goal on El Gato, Gato can't believe it and is furious with him-self. I think the keeper should have prepared him to be scored on in a large game such as this. How do you feel about this?

The Deal

When the people from DJS came to sign El Gato do you think the family should've hsndled the signing differently? Instead of the parents deciding do you think El Gato should've decided or had a say in it? Should they have tried to get a better deal. Or do you think they handled it well?

If you were on a spider web, would you be the spider or the caught bug? Why?

Uncle?

Do any of you feel that uncle has a larger part in the story? What could that part be?

Keeper

What do you guys think the deer represents? What do you think the jaguar represents?

Ellie's Blog Response!

Yes, I think that a coach has to be a good mentor as well, because the student often looks up to the coach and follows in their foot steps. What I mean by this is that if the coach is not a good mentor and sets bad examples then the child might do the same and become a bad person. Coaches that are good mentors help the student to become a better person, they may act as a father figure and help the person out at both the sport and on the persons outlook on life. That is why I think that the coach should not only be a good coach, but also a good mentor.

Does a good coach also need to be a good mentor? Why or why not? What are the best qualities of the best coaches?
